As promised in a recent post, I’m finally getting around to downloading pictures from the recent weekend when our friends Alex and Tara came up from Boston for a quick visit. The picture above is from our afternoon at Popham — we were there on Sunday, the day after the tail end of Hurricane Noel passed by the coast of Maine. Needless to say, the surf was pretty active — you can see it a bit in the photo. Our visitors were very suitably impressed with Maine’s breathtaking beauty. It makes my heart swell with happiness when people appreciate Maine! I just think everyone should love it as much as I do.
Anyway, we’re so glad Alex and Tara made it up for a visit — it was lovely to see them. I didn’t mention in the last post, but they had their first Maine whoopie pies when they were here and I think they may be scarred for life… Alex’s one and only comment (in his deadpan London accent) was, “Wow, that’s really sweet.” Poor guy. Enh, we made up for it by building a fire in the fireplace and serving them good beer in front of it. Is it bragging if I tell you how proud we are that an English guy was impressed with the beer selection in our refrigerator? It takes so little to make us happy…

No, bragging is telling everyone that our fridge currently contains:
Harpoon Munich Dark (seasonal)
Harpoon Hibernian (seasonal)
Harpoon IPA
Harpoon Brown (seasonal)
Anchor 2006 Christmas Ale (seasonal, obviously)
Mackeson’s Triple Stout
Samuel Smith’s Nut Brown Ale
Samuel Smith’s Imperial Stout
Samuel Smith’s Taddy Porter
Unibroue Blanche de Chamblis
Unibroue Fin du Monde
Unibroue Ephemere
Harpoon Saison (100 Barrel Series)
Harpoon Oatmeal Stout (100 Barrel Series)
Paulaner Hefe-Weizen
Now THAT’S bragging…

Um, hello? It’s Blanche de Chambly, thank you very much. Oh, and the Paulaner is actually an Erdinger and you forgot the Old Fezziwig and the Young’s Chocolate Stout. I’ll let it go this time, but there will be a quiz soon…
