(A full moon rising in Durham — just happened to catch sight of this big beautiful moon while driving home from work one day. I stopped the car and scrambled around in a ditch in heels to get this shot — I’m committed. Or crazy. Whichever.)
The Monday after a holiday weekend is always a bit painful, isn’t it? I had a bit of a hard time dragging my butt out of bed getting up this morning…
It was a really nice long weekend though — we made a brief trip to NH to see the in-laws, followed by some relatively painless shopping on Black Friday (phew, we survived) and finally our own Thanksgiving Dinner (with real turkey this time!) on Saturday. As usual, I made my Mom’s French Apple Pie — Joel loves apple pie. However, after dessert for just the two of us, we were still left with most of a pie… So on Sunday afternoon, we packed up the pie and the ice cream and trundled over to Bath for a visit, over pie à la mode, with my aunt and uncle. We always love chatting and hanging out with them! And conveniently, we went home with a lot less pie — bonus. (Thanks, Aunt Alice and Uncle Lew!)
Now Monday is here and it’s back to real life. Despite the mundane day-to-day stuff — work, cleaning up the house, voice lessons, car repairs — I’m actually somewhat relieved to return to my regular schedule. It’s the old “I need a vacation from my vacation” line. Bear with me — I’m trying to look on the bright side here…
Hang in there, friends — Monday’s only one day!

And your aunt and uncle were very pleased that you trundled over to Bath – and not just for the pie à la mode – the company was the bonus here for us!!
